Our second-to-last stop was Pisa, land of il Torre pendente di Pisa, or the Leaning Tower of Pisa.  Well, this is the river that runs through Pisa, very pretty during sunset but it’s also polluted.  The thing about Pisa is that it’s a city, and it’s not a very pretty city at that.  It’s a modern-day city, unlike Ferrara or Verona or even Roma.  It’s probably the most Western city that I’ve been at in Italia – very few picturesque, antique buildings in my opinion.  And it was rather disappointing (maybe I just had very high expectations for it) and strange.  Like, very strange.  (taken 9.1.2015)
