The World Wars . . . such a fascinating time period yet horrible, and, as we can see, touched even very remote places in Italia.  The first monument was standing in the parking lot of the hotel and is dedicated to the fallen of World War II – it listed names of the countrymen all around it.  (On that note, my great-grandfather fought in WWI and met Mussolini before he rose to power!).  The second monument is dedicated to the partigiani who fought in World War II.  Partigiani – essentially guerrilla men who fought, in this war, against Mussolini and Hitler and aided the Allies, prevalent in many of the occupied countries.  (taken 26.12.2014)
