On our way back from the beach, we stopped at an old abbey, Abbazia di Pomposa.  A Benedictine monastery, it was one of the most important in the northern area of Italy.  Murals line the walls on the side (photo one), and a beautiful tile mosaic work is at the entrance (photo two).  We took a self-guided tour and just glanced around the inside while Paola translated the descriptions for us.  It was beautiful and definitely worth stopping by to see as it was much different from il Duomo in Ferrara.  (taken 9.7.2014)
