CIEE students went on a tour of the city, which is split in between a medieval section and a Renaissance section.  Il Duomo is part of the dividing line between the two sections.  It is both Romanesque and Gothic architecture, and the inside was completely rebuilt in the eighteenth century.  The mural above the main altar is a replication of Michelangelo’s The Last Judgement.  Many smaller altars (first picture) line the walls of the cathedral.  (taken 9.6.2014)
